Things To Do At Bradenton Beach Florida
A Great Family Beach Vacation Close to Sarasota Attractions
There are lots of fun things to do at Bradenton Beach Florida. Bradenton Beach is the most southern city on Anna Maria Island. It has 6 miles of pristine beaches, shops, boutiques and restaurants on Bridge Street, a city pier, places to launch your boat and personal watercraft, and wonderful nature trails. And, if that’s not enough to entice you, we’re about thirty minutes from Sarasota, where you can go to the ballet, shows, museums, fabulous restaurants, and world-class shopping at St. Armand’s Circle.
There are boat rentals, charter fishing boats, personal watercraft rentals, and parasailing. Now that’s a great family beach vacation. Plus, there’s a free trolley to take you anywhere you want to go on the island. There are 2 Gulf beaches in Bradenton Beach, which are Coquina Beach on the southern end of the island and just down the road is Cortez Beach. Both have ample parking, but only Coquina Beach has restrooms, showers, picnic tables, lifeguards on duty and a full concession stand. Be sure to bring bodyboards to play in the water.
Things To Do in Bradenton Beach FL
Swimming in the gorgeous turquoise waters of the Gulf of Mexico, is, by far, the most popular activity. For those who don’t want to venture into the water, just relaxing on the beach is one of the best ways I can think of to while away an afternoon.
During stingray season, a blue flag will be flying to remind you to do what’s called “the stingray shuffle“, to make the stingrays aware that you’re in their area. They are shy and really don’t want contact with people. They’ll swim away if you make it known that you’re there. If you surprise them, you might get a barb in your foot or elsewhere.
Also, remember to protect your skin with an appropriate SPF sunscreen. The sun in Florida is intense. A gorgeous and safe suntan is important while visiting Florida beaches and can be enhanced with an all-natural skincare product.
Fishing is a wonderful sport that many people love. Bradenton Beach has many fishing areas, including from the beach, from boats, both in the Gulf and in our inland waterways, and on the Bradenton Beach Bridge Street Pier. The pier is a great place to fish for flounder, mullet, grouper and ladyfish. When planning to fish, look into requirements for a fishing license and get the regulations for legal lengths for taking fish.
Scuba Diving and Snorkeling
Bradenton Beach is fortunate to have the Regina Shipwreck about 75 yards offshore. This ship sank in 1940 and is in 12-20 feet of water. It is excellent for both scuba diving and snorkeling. Don’t overlook scuba and snorkeling opportunities in the bay and elsewhere off the coast.
Other Fun Activities
There are lots of Bradenton Beach attractions. You can go kayaking, jet skiing, Hobie Cat sailing, parasailing, snorkeling, and surfing. There are equipment rental companies that are easily accessible. Have fun!
Bradenton Beach has the best shopping on Anna Maria Island on Bridge Street. There are shops, boutiques, restaurants, and the Bridge Street Pier at the end of the road. And, if that’s not enough, take the drive along Gulf Drive and visit St. Armand’s Circle.
